Beauty consumers continue to be bullish on bling.

Whether its diamond dust or rose quartz bits, the shimmery stuff is showing no signs of abating. In anticipation of its ample presence at Indie Beauty Expo in New York next week, we revisit a video that accompanied our Dallas Trend Report spotlighting crystal-powered brands The Lyfestyle Co. and Full Unicorn.

Both companies caught the eyes of Beauty Independent editors when they walked the trade show floor in May, and their inventive products made the final cut for the report. In the video, which offers a taste of the atmosphere and energy of a typical IBE, The Lyfstyle Co. founder Jordan Fortaleza explains her unique manufacturing process, and Full Unicorn’s Nancy Rimbergas focuses on the tiny hexagonal gemstone crystals in her exfoliator. “It was created to infuse a big dose of fun as part of a simplified beauty ritual,” Rimbergas told BI. “Gemstone builds collagen and elasticity as it reveals a bright glowing complexion.”

The Lyfstyle Co. is returning to IBE as a New York exhibitor. It’s also gaining momentum thanks to a soon-to-be-announced retail partnership. Sparkly stuff isn’t the only trend The Lyfestyle Co. has picked up on. Its natural perfume oils derived from coconut and almond oils are built around zodiac signs and numerology.

Beauty Independent’s Trend Reports are published in the days following each edition of IBE. The New York show, the largest IBE yet, includes more than 220 brands that will be displaying hundreds of products. The post-show analyses serve as guides for shifts in the market that will impact retailers, brands and investors.
